Myles Hurtubise, the manager of Fabricana in Richmond, has fond memories of learning to sew with his mother as a teen. His grandmother was a tailor so the skill was one that was passed down through the generations in his family. It seems only natural that Myles be drawn to a long-term career working for a family-run fabric store like Fabricana.
“We have customers who have been shopping here since the store first opened,”explains Myles. “They bring in their children who are now learning to sew for their own kids. Customers often reminisce about the store’s founder, Richard Megrian, and how he always knew what a customer was looking for, even if they didn’t know themselves.”
